Ludruk and Remo dance are two inseparable elements of Surabaya's traditional arts. Both complement each other and become part of one another. This complementary understanding implies that both mutually support each other's existence. Referring to the strict Ludruk standard convention, Remo Dance is a requirement that must exist in Ludruk performances. On the other hand, Remo Dance exists and is known by the wider community because of the Ludruk role that has raised it. Furthermore, Remo Dance has a vital role and function in Ludruk, namely to start or open the show. That is what connects the closeness between the two so that they become two different elements, but identical and inseparable.
